Rambunctious
Rambunctious - learned this interesting new word today:
The Journey Begins
Some people are born with public speaking skills, perhaps. I was not one of them. My journey with Toastmasters began when a senior member of community introduced a club where people meet every week to practice speaking. He persuaded me to give it a try. I attended the first meeting and was impressed with not only the speaking power of people, but also their friendliness.
Despite all these benefits, I still was not sure if I should join. I had serious doubts about my public speaking ability and my confidence for standing in front of an audience was down low. Although I did not join right then (I wish I had), something was pulling me to this club. Finally after graduation, I came back to attend a meeting as a guest with a firm resolve to join.
My journey with Toastmasters has only continued since then. From a timid speaker to the founder of a new club, I have learned a great deal not only in the vast field of public speaking, but also in leadership and interpersonal skills, and I still have a long way to go.
In this blog, I will share with you my moments in the club, tips and tricks I learned from fellow toastmasters, and advice on leadership. I hope to learn from this blog equally, if not more, as you, the readers.

What a great gesture of humanity and brotherhood!

Abdoulaye Wade said Haitians could "return to their origin" |
Senegal's president says he will offer free land and "repatriation" to people affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
President Abdoulaye Wade said Haitians were sons and daughters of Africa since Haiti was founded by slaves, including some thought to be from Senegal."The president is offering voluntary repatriation to any Haitian that wants to return to their origin," said Mr Wade's spokesman, Mamadou Bemba Ndiaye.
Tuesday's earthquake killed tens of thousands and left many more homeless.
Buildings have been reduced to rubble, the distribution of aid is slow, and people have been flooding out of the devastated capital, Port-au-Prince.
"Senegal is ready to offer them parcels of land - even an entire region. It all depends on how many Haitians come," Mr Bemba Ndiaye said.
"If it's just a few individuals, then we will likely offer them housing or small pieces of land. If they come en masse we are ready to give them a region."
The spokesman emphasised that if a region was given, it would be in a fertile part of the country rather than in its parched deserts, the Associated Press news agency reported.

Letting Go
If you let go a little, you have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you have a lot of peace. If you let go everything, you have complete peace.- A. Shah
